Have you seen those bright and colorful bowls full of creamy smooth deliciousness and overflowing with sliced fruit, granola and exotic super foods? If not, just check out Instagram. They. Are. Everywhere. As beautiful as these smoothie bowls are, I didn’t understand the concept of pouring my smoothie into a bowl and eating it with a spoon. But as much as I didn’t buy into the idea, I couldn’t get over the fact that they might be the most gorgeous and tasty looking things I’ve ever seen! Seriously, if you don’t know what I’m talking about, google “smoothie bowls.” Needless to say, I had to see what these bad boys were all about…and I’m hooked!
This strawberry basil smoothie bowl encompasses some of my favorite flavors of spring and summer, and is very refreshing on a warm sunny day. The fun part is picking out what toppings you want to add! I really enjoyed sliced fruit on top, but a sprinkle of chia seeds and granola would add a nice crunch and some satiating protein.
Strawberry Basil Smoothie Bowl
- 2 frozen bananas
- 8 whole strawberries
- 4-5 basil leaves
- 1 handful of spinach
- 1-2 Tablespoons milk (if needed to help blend)
- Place the heaviest fruit (bananas) in the bottom of the blender first. Next, add the strawberries and then the leafy greens.
- Turn your blender on and blend everything until it's completely smooth. Add the 1-2 Tablespoons of milk if needed to help the blender blend more effectively.
- Pour your smoothie into a bowl and add your favorite toppings on top. It's as easy as that!
