Does anyone else get as giddy as I do about going grocery shopping?? Especially at Costco at noon when all of the samples are out (drool). I really do love the hunt for all of my favorite ingredients to make out staple dishes, but also searching for new items! It’s like a scavenger hunt and the prize is new and delicious foods. What’s not to love about that?!
I feel pretty fortunate that my husband enjoys grocery shopping almost as much as I do, especially when it comes to Costco since this is where we do the bulk of our shopping. There may just be 2 of us at home, but we work our way through bulk eggs, fruits and vegetables like nobody’s business!
We start out by discussing what meals we want to have for the next few weeks and then take a quick visual inventory of what we have in our fridge, freezer and pantry. Next I make a quick grocery list to make sure we don’t forget anything. We tend to stray from the grocery list while shopping. It’s hard to stick to when there is always something new at Costco to try! Then it’s off to the store we go. Quick pro tip: Clean out the trunk of your car to make room for all of your groceries. It’s no fun trying to cram things into every nook and cranny when you have a full set of golf clubs in the trunk. Trust me, we’ve been there.
There are some items we buy infrequently because it takes so long to finish, so this is not an exhaustive list. Underneath the staple items pictured below you’ll find a list of items not pictured but always purchased at Costco.
Additional items not pictured above:
-Dave’s Killer Powerseed Bread
-Ground flax seed
-Ground beef and turkey
-Additional fruits and veggies (bell pepper, cucumber, potatoes, romaine lettuce, grapes, kiwi)
